CCC Tuesday Updates – 20220524
May 24, 2022
Hey’all… since we’re having more late Autumn weather than Spring… almost Summer weather… here are some tasty fresh updates for you before Memorial Day!
- The tentative series schedule is posted over on the Schedule Page.
- We’re considering making some changes to the race day schedule. Please provide us with some feedback and let us know what you like and don’t like (about the race day schedule) in the comments.
- As with every year around this time we’re looking for series sponsors. If you have some cold hard cash or crypto burning a hole in your e-wallet and want to be involved in the best darn amateur bike race series in the country… get in touch with us!
- And finally… we hope you’re all safe and healthy and enjoying riding your bicycles. We look forward to seeing everyone back on a more “normal” schedule this year! Enjoy the long Memorial Weekend!
“Best series in the country” rings pretty hollow when you bailed on 2021. Wisconsin CX is the cream of the crop these days…ask everyone who came up last year.
Any word on when/where the IL State CX Champs will be?
Settle down there Bucky
Not wanting to kick the horse… Time to bring in new management or more folks to help carry the burden… Third largest market in the country and our series, which COULD once again be on top, needs more attention. Centralize, plan, execute… There is an opportunity, it just needs someone to attend to it…
As for race day? Though not “with the times”, there shouldn’t be any window where there are less than 40 people on the course… If we did that, maybe we could add Masters Category races… If we want to host any super small races (less than 20 riders), it should be at the end of the race day. All about rewarding the folks who pay the bills. Simple economics.
I enjoy the split in the masters categories with 123 and 4/5’s that they do in Wisc and at Regionals last year. Not necessary and if it is that much more of a strain on the organization no worries.
The M3/4 races at a couple events were a big hit last year. Would love to see them back on the schedule this year.
Race day = Saturday???
As a novice, I still recommend keeping the last race as a Cat 5 only to help the newbs learn the sport. Let the Cat 4s race with the 3s if they want.
the combined 3/4 field was super popular with a lot of people. Changing the 4/5 race to just 5’s would be amazing for new riders.
Really like that I can race both masters 55+ and single speed so I make the trip from Wisconsin to race a few times in the CHICROSSCUP.COM. Every year in the WICXSERIES.COM the older masters have to choose between SS or racing in their age group.
I agree on the Masters cat4/5 and 123 split. Racing is fun – but more fun when you might have a chance to be near the top of the appropriate category.
